Cyclist sustains concussion after morning collision with taxi

A cyclist was knocked from his bicycle by a taxi travelling on the N11 towards Groblersdal.

The collision occurred in Walter Sisulu Street between the Harry Gwala and Protea Street turnoffs.

The collision was so violent that the taxi’s windscreen was completely shattered.

Ambulance services transported the cyclist to hospital.

Despite the cyclist not having any external injuries apart from an obvious concussion, emergency personnel said he would be taken to hospital to determine whether any serious internal injuries were sustained.

Police are currently on the scene compiling an incident report.
