PICTURES: N11 closed after fuel tanker overturns, leaks flammable cargo

N11 closed - Motorists asked to avoid Loskop route to Kranspoort, Groblersdal

A fuel tanker overturned on the N11 forcing authorities to close the route until further notice.

The cargo is highly flammable and for both the safety of emergency responders and motorists, alternative routes must rather be used.

According to Mr Louwtjie Swart of Van Wettens Towing Services, there’s no indication yet as to when the N11 will be opened again for traffic.

The Stoffberg road is presently the safest way to Kranspoort and Groblersdal.

The fuel tanker overturned between Doornkop and Kranspoort after a near fatal collision with a Blue Ribbon delivery truck.

Members of the public should steer clear of the scene while ambulance services tends to both drivers.

Traffic services have been dispatched to take control of traffic diversions until the road is open.

Van Wettens vehicles are already on scene to recover the truck.

A Hazmat team is expected to start with cleanup soon.
