No strike – Municipal employees gathered to “honour heroes”

No, municipal employees are not striking again.

The scores of municipal employees gathered behind the civic centre are simply there to honour former “heroes.”

Employees gathered since 07:30 at the back of the civic centre where a municipal event is underway.

The event, themed “Remembering our Heroes,” include a memorial for late municipal electrician Tshepo Maseko who was shot and killed during the recent spate of municipal strikes.

Other heroes that will be commemorated include Harris Sithole, Siyabonga Thabang and Sarel Vilakazi.
