Middelburg police unit help foil cash-in-transit plot

The Middelburg DPCI unit, along with 10 other police units, played a critical role in busting a group suspected of a cash-in-transit heist in Makhado, Limpopo.

According to information, 18 suspects were shot and killed during a shootout with the police earlier today, (Friday).

General Fanie Masemola of Limpopo Police stated that the group, consisting of two women and 16 men, was found by the police in a ‘safe house.’

The group was reportedly planning a heist today.

General Masemola mentioned that the police intended to arrest the suspects, however, they initiated gunfire against the police.

Eighteen suspects were shot dead, and one police officer was seriously injured.

The police found ammunition, explosives and stolen vehicles at the scene.
