Video: firefighters battle raging inferno

Steve Tshwete Local Municipality firefighters are battling flames at Reclam, in the industrial area.

The emergency services have been at the scene for nearly two hours, trying to stop the blaze.

It is not clear what caused the fire, however, the conveyor belts that were being stored in the area caught fire and produced heavy fumes that drew the attention of a security guard.

 

The security guard quickly alerted emergency services, including the military police.

CPF members are currently restricting access to the area due to explosives present in Reclam, which used to be a recycling facility for ferrous and non-ferrous metal products.

The business has been non-operational for several months.

No injuries have been reported.

As of yet, no reports of injuries have been made.

Residents are urged to be extra cautious when driving in the east of Middelburg due to the heavy storms in the area.
