Stick attack – one suspect apprehended

Arthur Hill from Middelburg Dagpatrollie had to let go one of the suspects who were involved in the attack on a resident late yesterday afternoon in Oribi Street with a stick full of nails.

Neighbourhood watch groups were on the look out for the two young males after they assaulted the resident with a home-made mace, making off with his wallet and cellphone.

According to Mr Hill, he and his members were patrolling the streets until 01:00 this morning after a description of the two men gave him a good idea of who the suspects were.
They then succeeded in capturing one of the men in Jeppe Street, near the OK Grocer.

Mr Hill contacted the victim of the assault with the hopes that he would identify his assailant and open a case.
The victim however refused to respond to the scene saying he doesn’t have a vehicle.

• The victim could not be reached for comment.
