Executive Mayor addresses residents on repairs to bulk water line

The whole of Mhluzi is currently being affected by water interruptions as repairs are being done to the bulk water line.

Executive Mayor, Mshlonishwa Masilela, paid a site visit to the scene in Tshwelopele Street, where severeal sections of the water line have been excavated for the repairs.

The Mayor addressed the media, where he explained that the water interruptions are a result of a pipe burst that occurred due to pressure build up following the recent cut over from asbestos to PVC.

Mhluzi, Extensions 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, Rockville, Chromeville, Mountainview, Matailen, Phumula, Thembisa, Teabota and Middelburg Ext. 23 are all affected.

The Mayor stated that there is currently no estimated restoration time available but assured residents that Steve Tshwete Local Municipality will be giving residents frequent updates, with the soonest one scheduled for 14:00.

Meanwhile, water tankers have been made available in Ext. 2, 4, 7, 23 and Chromeville.
