Body of missing father found in river

A man who was reported missing earlier this month has been found deceased.

Ntakadzeni Mutati (38) was last seen in Middelburg on September 1 but mysteriously went missing on his way to work.
His family reported him missing.

Mrs Mutati received a distressing call from the Middelburg Pathology Department this week, informing her that her husband’s lifeless body had been retrieved from the Klein Olifants River.

On the day he went missing, he was driving a blue Renault Kiger, number plate KV 44TD GP, which is still unaccounted for.
Although the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, there is suspicion that he may have been a victim of a hijacking.

When the Middelburg Observer reached out to Mrs Mutati today (Thursday), she was at the Middelburg State Mortuary formally identifying her husband. She mentioned that funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed.

Mr Mutati is survived by his wife and two children.

The Middelburg Police have launched an investigation into Mr Mutati’s death.
