Beautiful night for an Ugly 5 night race

Hoërskool Kanonkop played host to the Ugly 5 Night Series Hyena Race last night.

Residents from across Middelburg were eager to take part in the Middelburg Marathon Club organised event.

Starting at 18:30, laughter, drinks and memories were shared as the athletes sweated it out during the cool spring evening.

• The results for the 10km are as follows:

Male overall – 1st: Graeme Malinga, Eskom; 2nd: Lucky Tsotetsi, Nkangala; 3rd: Marcus Mogola, Nkangala.

40+ Men – 1st: Graeme Malinga, Eskom.

50+ Men – 1st: Cornelias Pretorius, Midack.

60+ Men – 1st: Piet Britton, Medihelp.

Chairperson of the Middelburg Marathon Club, Charmaine van der Merwe, and chairperson of the Midack Athletics Club, Elani Keulder.

Female overall – 1st: Lindi Cronje, Midack; 2nd: Kayla Coetzee, Rooies; 3rd: Therese Grobler, PVC.

40+ Women – 1st: Debbie Grove, Midack.

50+ Women – 1st: Rachel Taljard, Run/Walk for Life.

• The results for the 4.9km are as follows:

Men – 1st: Thomas Prinsloo.

Women – 1st: Sonelle Maritz.
