Murder suspect hands himself over to the police

A 33-year-old man was arrested by the Belfast Police on murder charges following the shooting of Abel Magane (44) in Belfast on September 20.

According to the Mpumalanga Police, the Belfast Hospital alerted the police after a man was brought in for emergency treatment after sustaining a gunshot wound.
Magane succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.

Preliminary information suggested that the victim was shot by a man driving a white Amarok bakkie.

The suspect handed himself over at the Belfast Police Station on Thursday and was taken into custody, facing murder charges.
The firearm used to kill Magane has not been recovered yet, however, investigations are still underway.

The motive behind this senseless killing remains unknown at this stage.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court today (Friday).

The suspect can’t be identified until he appears in court.
