Chaos on Jeppe Street after alleged hit-and-run

After this morning’s protests at HTS Middelburg, chaos ensued after an alleged hit-and-run.

Members of the EFF claimed that a “parent” hit a protester with his bakkie while dropping off his children early this morning.
They followed the vehicle to Impala Glass on Jeppe Street, where an incensed crowd gathered.

The police were called to the scene to mediate the dispute, with the driver of the bakkie denying that he hit the bystander.
This infuriated the crowd further, as they then climbed on top of the bakkie, damaging it in the process.

The driver of the bakkie offered to take the injured man to the hospital, to verify the claims of a severe injury, asking in return that the leaders at the scene be held responsible for the damage to the bakkie.

After reluctantly agreeing to this arrangement, all parties have now made their way to the hospital, causing the crowd to disperse as they too follow suit.
