More than 25 families displaced by Hendrina storm

Executive Mayor, Mshlonishwa Masilela, alongside other delegates visited Kwazamokuhle to assess the damages.

More than 25 families in Kwazamokuhle have been displaced due to the severe hailstorm that wreaked havoc on properties yesterday evening.

Hendrina Fire Station, municipal offices including licensing and financial services were flooded as well, causing damages to the buildings, furniture and financial and E-Natis systems. Residents are notified that the affected offices are closed and service delivery therefore suspended temporarily.

Electric poles were uprooted and severely damaged.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Mshlonishwa Masilela, accompanied by Councillors, the Municipal Manager Mandla Mnguni, municipal official from Physical and Environmental Development, Solid Waste Management, Electrical, Fire and Rescue Management are currently at Kwazamokuhle and Hendrina to assess the extent of damages.

No injuries were reported so far.
