Man trapped, toddler injured in head-on truck collision

The driver of a bakkie had to be freed by the jaws of life earlier this afternoon after colliding with a truck on the Samekoms Road.

The accident occurred a short distance from the Izimbiwa Coal Graspan Colliery’s entrance at roughly 15:30 this afternoon.

The driver of the bakkie had a toddler with him at the time of the accident who sustained injuries.

Emergency services using the jaws of life to free the driver.

The bakkie was trapped underneath the truck, which was carrying aggregate.

No fatalities were reported.
