Man lying on corner of Cowen Ntuli and Frame Street pronounced dead

The homeless man that had been lying on the corner of Cowen Ntuli and Frame Street for hours, has been pronounced dead by the EMS at the scene.

Employees of the nearby The Tackle Box, were told by medical officials at the scene that the man had passed away,

Police are now stationed at the scene, cordoning off the area until the arrival of the forensics team.

The man was discovered by The Tackle Box employees this morning at 08:00, where they presumed that he had already died.

A Middelburg Observer journalist arrived at the scene at 08:45, and discovered that the man was still breathing.

The Police and EMS arrived at the scene over an hour after being alerted.

It is suspected that the man was a drug user and had suffered or was in the process of experiencing an overdose.

The Tackle Box employees were left frustrated by the response time of both the EMS and SAPS, as it took them over an hour to arrive at the scene.
