Robbers flee in red Polo

The WhatsApp message circulating that motorists should avoid the Stoffberg road because there is a “crime scene” where the police stopped robbers, who were earlier involved in a business robbery in Eastdene, is untrue.

The robbery was at Tayyib Halaal at the Eastdene Centre next to the pharmacy.

The Middelburg Observer was several kilometres out on the R555 and nothing was noticed.

Police vehicles and the local Day Patrol, which had also rushed out, also returned.
There is currently no crime scene on the road.

According to the last messages that came through, the robbers’ red vehicle was spotted between the Protea Street exit and the Renoster Street exit on the R555, after which, it apparently disappeared.

There have also currently been no arrests following the robbery.

Reports that the red vehicle was spotted at Tosca in the parking area are also untrue.
