Gustav’s French adventure begins with a bronze

Gustav Basson earned a third-place finish at the fifth stage of the Boucles du Haut-Var cycling race in France.

Gustav arrived in France just over a week ago, having joined French cycling outfit CR4C Roanne for the 2024 season.

He greeted his teammates and coaches and immediately began competing. This was his third race since landing in the beautiful Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

Gustav is no stranger to European soil, having previously competed in the Belgian racing circuit, the difference is now he has a 12-month French visa.

This will help him settle and focus his efforts purely on cycling.

Gustav’s ultimate goal is to earn his spot on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Tour.

The Middelburg Observer will post regular updates with Gustav’s results throughout the 2024 season.
