Thunderstorm wreaks havoc across Middelburg

An old age home underwater, trees on fire and roads flooded, as Middelburg suffers another severe thunderstorm.

Middelburg has once again suffered at the hands of severe weather, as this evening’s thunderstorm has caused chaos and damage across town.

The SAVF Old Age Home experienced an intense bout of flooding, as they needed assistance from the public to help remove the water before the building became heavily damaged.

Fortunately, concerned residents stepped up to help. Most notably, the Sektor 3 Radio Groep, who worked tirelessly to help get rid of the water.

Several trees were struck by lightning, with the fire brigade needing to extinguish the flames, preventing further spreading.

Many streets become fully submerged during the thunderstorm. Among them was Vos Street, where it became indistinguishable where the road ended and the pavement began.
