Multiple children injured in collision between minibus and sedan

A vehicle full of school kids was involved in a serious collision with a minibus on the corner of Lilian Ngoyi- and Protea Street moments ago.

Traffic around the accident scene is backed up and motorists should avoid the busy crossing until the scene is cleared.

At least four children with blood dripping from their heads and faces are currently receiving medical assistance on the scene.
A few other kids, who were lucky to escape injury, are being supported on the scene by bystanders.

It’s unclear how the accident occurred but the minibus struck the Suzuki vehicle on its side.

The sadan was transporting school children.

The force of the collision ploughed the sedan across a traffic island of the slipway.
Multiple windows shattered on impact while the Suzuki’s airbags were also deployed.

A female in severe shock sat next to the bleeding children dressed in school uniform.

Traffic services are on scene to take statements from the drivers involved.

It’s currently unclear exactly how many kids were injured.

Both primary and high school kids are involved.

The two vehicles came to land on a traffic island.
