Protesting students block off Meyer Street

Protesting students from the Nkangala TVET College have moved their strike action to the busy Meyer Street which leads traffic out of town.

Motorists are advised to approach with caution or make use of alternative routes for the time being as Meyer Street has been blocked off by protests.

The students resumed strike action early this morning at their campus in Brug Street, setting fire to tyres.

The protests are against NSFAS funding being paid directly to landlords, instead of into student accounts.

The SAPS are at the scene in Meyer Street, dispersing the protesters.
