Traffic alert: R36 Lydenburg/Bambi road closed by protesters

The R36 between Lydenburg and Bambi has been closed off and motorists are advised to make use of alternative routes.

According to a video being circulated on the Traffic Alert WhatsApp group, a deep trench has been dug across the road with piles of soil placed as barricades.

A truck driver can be overheard in the video saying that the road has been barricaded by protesting community members.

Caution is advised and motorists are urged to make use of alternative routes.

• The source of the video is unknown, but was forwarded from a truckers’ group to the Traffic Alert WhatsApp group.
