Rough night for Van Wettens – multiple accidents on N4

Van Wettens Towing had a rough night after multiple accidents were reported along the N4 near Middelburg.

According to Louwtjie Swart from Van Wettens, a collision between a taxi and two trucks was reported yesterday night shortly before midnight.

It is alleged that the taxi lost control on the N4 at the Wonderfontein off-ramp, which resulted in it colliding with one of the trucks. The accident caused a secondary collision with a second truck.

No serious injuries were reported.

The Van Wettens team then received another call out shortly after 06:00 this morning on the N4 close to the Middelburg Toll Plaza after two trucks were involved in a sideswipe collision.

Mr Swart says the collision was caused by a stationary truck which is standing partly in the shoulder lane, direction eMalahleni.

The stationary truck on the N4 near the Ultra City, direction eMalahleni.

No serious injuries were reported in the collision and motorists are warned that the stationary truck is still standing close to the Ultra City. Motorists are advised to approach with caution.

Van Wettens is also currently in the process of cleaning up at a collision on the Arnot road. Mr Swart says the incident occurred between a truck and a tractor, roughly 10 km from Hendrina.

Motorists are advised that heavy mist is also affecting visibility on the roads and to exercise caution.
