Gang of thugs flee with solar panels, cell phone, cash

Two brothers were seriously injured during a vicious attack by a gang of thugs who targeted a smallholding in the Keerom area of the N11 heading to Loskop Dam.

The attack occurred on Wednesday night shortly before midnight at around 23:30.

The brothers, who live on the property belonging to a local businessman, were asleep when they were attacked by a group of 11 assailants.

The property is still under development with construction taking place.

The brothers were appointed to look after the property during the construction phase.

They were asleep when they heard a noise and saw two men approaching their room from outside.

They dimmed the lights of the room but the men broke in.

One of the brothers was ordered to follow the attackers outside, where he was beaten with a shovel over his upper body.

While he was being beaten with the shovel, he heard his brother being severely assaulted inside the room.

The gang stole nine solar panels, a cell phone belonging to one of the brothers, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.

They fled the small holding leaving both brothers for dead.

According to sources familiar with the incident, one of the brothers was rushed to Pretoria due to the severity of his injuries.
