We ‘sink’ you should fix it

Whether Dennesig residents are sending a strong message to the pothole team or just trying to lower carbon emissions remains unclear after a tree was planted in a sinkhole in Sipres Street.

A motorist observed the Sacred Bamboo tree late on Tuesday evening in the sinkhole located on Sipres Street close to the Renoster turn-off.

• The comical incident strongly resembles a similar escapade in 2020, in which a KwaDukuza (KZN) resident planted banana trees in potholes out of frustration over the poor state of their roads.

The sinkhole has been marked off with cardboard boxes and reported to the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, but motorists are advised to exercise caution.
