Evenly matched? HTS Middelburg ranked 39th and Hoërskool Middelburg 40th in latest school rankings

Remarkably, our town’s two greatest rivals have been placed eerily close together, with neutrals licking their lips at the prospect of such an evenly matched upcoming Derby.

If the latest Sportsmans Warehouse SA School Sports First XV School Rugby Rankings is anything to go by, Middelburg’s rugby scene is as competitive as ever, with HTS Middelburg and Hoërskool Middelburg ranked 39th and 40th, respectively.

The post-Easter Weekend list was published yesterday and can be viewed in full here: Post-Easter Weekend Update

Western Cape’s HTS Drostdy ekes past the two Mpumalanga locals in 38th, while Hoërskool Kempton Park looks up at the Middelburg pair in 41st.

Both schools have played seven fixtures thus far this calendar year.

With the duo placed among the top 40 schools in the country, there is not a more clearer indication of Middelburg’s strengthened standing in the ever-changing landscape of South African school rugby.
