Vaalbank bulk line bursts – Middelburg faces water interruptions

Large parts of Middelburg should prepare for water interruptions after a bulk waterline has burst.

According to DA Ward Councillor Deon van der Merwe, he received information that the main pipe running between Vaalbank Water Works and the reservoir burst between 09:00 and 10:00 this morning.

This will likely result in water shortages or low water pressure in most parts of town.

While no estimated restoration time has been made available, Van der Merwe explained that a burst on one of the bulk lines usually takes eight hours to repair.

The Steve Tshwete Local Municipality is aware of the burst pipe.
