One person has been confirmed dead at an accident scene next to Middelburg Mall in Mandela Drive.

The vehicle crossed the Samora Machel Street road, and crashed into two storm water drainage pits before coming to a standstill in a field.

It is said that the vehicle went airborne before flipping over.

Police are still on the scene where forensic specialists are finalizing their investigations.

The accident occurred just before 20:00.

Three occupants were in the car with only one fatality reported.

Forensic pathology services are also on the scene for the removal of the body which is still lying in a slipway into Mandela Drive on the malls’s side.

Motorists should approach with caution, as the wreck is also still on the scene.

The scene will be cleared soon with investigations winding down.
