Missing man found dead next to dam

The search for a missing man from Hendrina has ended after he was found dead at a dam in Kriel.

Khulekani Nkambule (23), who was last seen on May 23, has been identified by his bereaved family, following the discovery of his body next to a dam in Kriel.

Khulekani was given a proper burial at Hendrina last Saturday.

He was reported missing by his family, and the Middelburg Observer asked the community to assist the family in tracing him.

A family spokesperson later revealed to the Observer that the family had found Khulekani, but that he had unfortunately passed away.

When the paper tried to reach out to the family for further details, the family was too distraught to speak. They did, however, thank everyone who helped with the search and requested their privacy.

• The tragic discovery was made shortly after Johannes Sibanyoni, who went missing on May 26 in Kwazamokuhle, was found dead in a stream close to his house.

• Another desperate search is underway for Thabisile Thabethe (36), who was last seen on May 30 at a bar in Blinkpan.

She disappeared after heading home. She lives on Welverdiend farm, which is a 6km walk from the bar where she was last seen.
Since then, the Blinkpan SAPS and community members have been trying to locate her.
