Showers of praise have not been bestowed so eagerly on a rugby player for a long time as for the new wonderkid of South African rugby: Markus Muller.
There are even whispers that he could play for the Boks in the Rugby World Cup in two years.
Muller should be in the Western Province team this afternoon for their match against the Boland in the annual Craven Week that is being held in Middelburg.
Kick-off is at 14:30.
He wears the number 13 jersey.
Rugby experts will, of course, say, stop, hold back the horses. Look what happened to Curwin Bosch and many others like him. A bright star that provinces were fighting for, but who eventually faded when the pressure became too much.
Muller has already signed a contract with Western Province.
But while the star is shining, don’t let doomsayers dim it.
And this afternoon, Boland may just have to deal with the meteorite in 13.
The poor Boland Landbou already had to pay for it this year when the brilliant centre scored five tries for Paarl Gimnasium in an 80–19 victory.
Rugby fans can attend the Craven Week by paying just R50 for admission.
