A man was fatally shot by a security guard during an attempted robbery at an ATM in OR Tambo Street in the CBD, Middelburg.

The suspect allegedly tried to stab people during the incident, prompting the security guard to intervene. The suspect was shot and declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Colonel Jabu Ndubane, Provincial Spokesperson of the police, has confirmed the incident.
