Heart operation on the cards for Ayden
Miracle baby Ayden is living out the meaning of his name, as a boy with fire in his heart who continues to defy all odds.
Having celebrated his one-month birthday last Monday, Ayden van Tonder continues to receive treatment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Life Midmed Hospital, where the bills are stacking up against his young parents, Chané Janse van Vuuren and Elijah van Tonder.
Ayden was born prematurely at 25 weeks and weighed 850g on June 7, resulting in his admission into the NICU due to a hole in his heart and undeveloped lungs.
According to Chané, while it continues to go well with Ayden’s fight for survival, their hospital bill currently stands at a total of R841 487.40.
An operation to repair the hole in Ayden’s heart is also on the cards for the month-old baby who has already endured so much.
Despite doctors’ efforts to remedy the hole in his heart with medication, Chané confirmed that they will have to operate at some point.
“We are not sure when, and are awaiting feedback from the doctor.”
Anyone wishing to contribute towards the medical expenses for Ayden can make direct payments to Life Midmed Hospital under the reference number: *538036.
