Robbers target same cafe where man was executed in 2022

Evildoers on the prowl.

Eerie similarities between two robberies at the same cafe where shopper Sam Nyambo (31) was shot and killed on August 1, 2022, have cafe employees on edge.

A group of armed robbers again stormed Toscana Takeaways, in Mineralia, shortly after opening at 06:00 this morning, almost three years to the date Nyambo was shot by a robber in the head at the same cafe.

The armed robbers pounced on cafe personnel minutes after the shop was unlocked for early morning clients.

According to Titon Security, which responded to the scene after a distress alarm, in both the 2022 robbery and the robbery this morning, the gang of robbers fled with the cafe’s CCTV camera system.

Titon said it’s unclear what spooked the robbers in this morning’s incident, after they fled the cafe empty-handed with only the cafe’s CCTV camera system, which would be able to clearly identify them.

In the 2022 robbery, Nyambo was waiting in line at the tills to pay for his goods when he was shoved out of line by a robber.

When Nyambo reacted to the shove, the robber turned to him and coldly executed him with a single gunshot to the head.

Nyambo collapsed and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.

After Nyambo was shot, the cold-blooded killer proceeded to empty the cash registers with three other robbers.

They then disconnected the cafe’s CCTV camera system before fleeing in a red polo.

The 2022 incident happened around 19:30 when the cafe was full of shoppers.

Shoppers and cafe workers were forced to lie on the ground during the robbery.

None of the robbers involved in the 2022 robbery and murder have been apprehended.

Titon said there might be a possibility that the two incidents may be linked, but that it was up to the police to determine.

The security company said this morning’s incident should serve as a warning to other cafes and other minimarkets to be more vigilant.
