SANRAL announces road closures, go research backstreet options

Spare the swear!

Middelburg’s main roads are a nightmare.

The periodic stop-and-go in Walter Sisulu Street is heaven, compared to Meyer Street at peak times.

Mornings and afternoons has become a 25-minute wait.

And, it may just become even longer.

The municipality announced ongoing, and coming road closures, via SANRAL.

Pre-plan citizens:

July 29 to August 5 – Cowen Ntuli Street.

August 6 to August 13 – Meyer Street.

Peak hours are from Monday to Thursday from 06:30 to 08:30, and Fridays from 13:30 to 18:00 (SANRAL).

What SANRAL does not say, however, is that all of these routes are truck-heavy, causing most of the traffic delays.

The dates are also not set in stone, just look at Meyer Street, where SANRAL said work would be completed by August 1.
