Bumper bashes and crashes continue on wet roads

Today’s dreary weather has caused mayhem on Middelburg’s roads, with two more crashes reported during lunch-hour traffic.

A single motor vehicle accident at the circle on John Magagula Street was reported shortly before 13:00, after a vehicle overturned and landed on its side.

According to a passing motorist, the vehicle sustained serious damage and its windshield was shattered, but no serious injuries were apparent.

Another minor collision on Samora Machel Drive was reported minutes after the first.
The second collision took place at the busy crossing between the Middelburg Mall and the SAE Business Park.

Motorists were also sent sliding due to hail earlier this morning on roads on Middelburg’s outskirts.

A bakkie and a truck both overturned on the N4 earlier today, and a serious multi-vehicle accident in Kranspoort resulted in a diesel tanker catching fire.
One person was killed, and Kranspoort Pass remains closed.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously on the wet roads.
