Video: Protest action flares up again on Belfast/Dullstroom road

Protest action has escalated on the Belfast/Dullstroom road, with protesters cutting down a tree and throwing it across the road.

Protest action on the Belfast/Dullstroom road, just outside Belfast, has flared up again and escalated.

Earlier today, protesters blocked the road by placing tree branches across it and setting them alight. Police responded to the scene, and the road was cleared for traffic.

A short while ago, motorists were warned that protesters have now cut down a tree and thrown it across the road. Burning debris has also been reported on the roadway, posing a danger to drivers.

It is not yet clear what the reason for the protest action is.
