Work on Meyer Street completed, road open

Morning and evening commuting will stabilise with Meyer Street’s reopening.

The section of Meyer Street between the Protea and Dr Beyers Naudé intersections is open!

According to Minki Relebohile, a consultant speaking on behalf of Sanral, repairs to the collapsed section near Meyer Bridge have been completed.
Traffic is already moving up and down along Meyer Street.

Relebohile told the Middelburg Observer that repairs at the collapsed section were completed last week, but the road remained closed to allow the asphalt to set as well as allowing workers to complete the patching at the bridge.

Extended road maintenance on Meyer Street (south of the Middelburg Observer offices), Samora Machel, Walter Sisulu and Cowen Ntuli will endure until the end of August.

Where possible, only single-lane closures will be implemented to minimise the effect on traffic flow.
