Prohibition of fire period alert, stay safe, avoid sparks

Open fires to be temporarily banned to safeguard residents.

The Greater Middelburg Fire Protection Association (GMFPA), in collaboration with Steve Tshwete Fire and Rescue Services, has announced this year’s fire prohibition period.

According to the notice issued by the GMFPA, no burning of materials or open fires are permitted from September 1 until October 31.

The fire prohibition period will affect the entire Middelburg local municipal area.

The public is, therefore, urged to apply extreme vigilance with open flames during the prohibition period and to report any fires to local municipal fire services.

Residents are warned that anyone who is found contravening this notice may face prosecution and be held liable for such.
