Do you want to see a rhino? Or maybe a zebra?

Why drive to the Kruger National Park?

Someone said the other day that you don’t see rhinos in the Kruger anymore. “If you want to see a rhino, just drive to Alzu Petroport.”

One could probably also add: “If you want to see a lion, just drive to Pienaar Dam.”

These days, you can also drive about 20km out in the direction of Duvha, and then you can see zebras.

The town’s road cyclists were surprised a month ago when they found three zebras next to the Duvha road.

On Saturday, the three ‘striped donkeys’ were grazing right next to the road. They are not in a game park and are roaming freely.

Nobody knows whose zebras they are.

Middelburg has had everything from hippos to kudus, warthogs, baboons, monkeys and even leguaan roaming the town’s streets in recent years.

And when you hear that one of the cyclists, Corné Ferreira, fell hard after crashing into a cow in Dennesig, you know this is still a wild world.
