Speed cameras for Middelburg

‘Thrilling’ indeed - Steve Tshwete Local Municipality announces road camera project!

Driver behaviour will strictly be addressed by new speed law enforcement technology that is set to be implemented by the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.

In a public statement, STLM said that it is “thrilled” to announce the launch of the speed law enforcement by camera project, headed by Executive Mayor Mshlonishwa Masilela.

The statement further read that the aim of the project is to enhance road safety and create a secure environment for Steve Tshwete residents.

The new speed law enforcement technology is in line with the municipality’s smart city vision, and will assist in regulating traffic speed.

According to STLM, cameras will be placed in strategic locations, in high risk areas where excessive speeding and traffic violations are prevalent.

The statement did not provide more information on when and where the speed cameras will be installed.
