Mhluzi’s Roma Church targeted in ongoing burglaries

Break-ins in the house of God spark security concerns.

Burglars have been vandalising the Roma Church in Mhluzi for the past two years, stealing electrical wires, light bulbs, toilets, and other bathroom items.

On August 25 and August 27, burglars tried to break into the church’s main building, but fled once the alarm was activated.

MT Phalane, who is a chairperson at the church, mentioned that the burglars have not been arrested yet.

The break-ins started in 2023, and the church has had to go through major renovations to restore the damage. Due to the recent spate of burglaries, the toilets don’t work.

The burglaries were reported at the Mhluzi Police Station, and fingerprints were taken at the crime scene.
