PHOTO’S: Truck transporting onions tips over on N4, causing delays

You can smell the highway a mile off.

Motorists should expect traffic delays on the N4 next to the Middelburg Dam, where traffic came to a standstill moments ago following an accident.

Three of the four lanes are currently being obstructed by tons of onions, as well as the truck transporting the onions.

Motorists who can manage it are currently passing the scene on the shoulders of the highway.

According to witnesses, traffic is starting to back up considerably.

Four people were slightly injured and the local fire brigade has been dispatched to remove a woman stuck on the top of the truck’s cabin.

Three others sustained minor injuries.

Emergency services are still making their way to the scene.
