Cyclist’s dawn ride discovers crash site

It appears the Polo might have rolled.

Former Middelburg Observer editor Tobie van den Bergh came across a silver VW Polo that appeared to have been in an accident early this morning, shortly after 06:00, while out on his morning cycle.

He said the vehicle appeared to have rolled on Walter Sisulu Street by a bridge and came to a standstill afterwards.

According to bystanders, the driver left the scene to go and look for help.

The incident was also reported on various local traffic alert groups.

It is unclear what led to the accident, but the vehicle has since been recovered.
