SEE YOU THERE: Former heroin addict to educate parents, teens on drugs

Entrace is free!

“Not me” should never be in any parents’ vocabulary when it comes to drug awareness, signs of abuse, criminality associated with addiction and the destruction of families.

No one is safe from drugs.

Drugs tear at the fabric of communities and society.

It’s when we look away, don’t pay attention, drown children in money instead of discipline, and leaving it to schools to tackle the hard topics, that our most vulnerable fall through the cracks.

And, it starts with one drag from something as simple as a Vape.

Brescia Badernhorst will be coming to Middelburg to share her inspirational story about loss, addiction and the long road to recovery. It will be a discussion every Middelburg parent needs to hear.

From there, it proceeds to the next available thing, like petrol, thinners or glue, a joint, a pill or powder, all the way to injecting yourself with dirty needles.

The local ChainBreakers rehabilitation and support group headed by Elna Lewis, has booked Brescia to come and share her heartbreaking story of loss and addiction, so that parents and teens can learn from her directly on how to avoid the temptations.

It is not just a scary story of how drugs destroy, but an inspirational story of hope in a town overrun by dealers and druggies.

Since the police and courts cannot make a dent in drug availability and sales, it’s up to every single parent to take responsibility with leading the conversation around the dinner table.

Brescia will make that possible with her story.

Attendance is free of charge, but any donations towards ChainBreakers and the incredible work Lewis does, are welcome and can be given at the door.

Donations will go towards rehabilitation.
