Free rabies vaccinations for pets in Middelburg and surrounding power stations

Free rabies vaccinations for cats, dogs, and ferrets are available across Middelburg from October 20.

It’s that time of year again, when pet owners can have their animals vaccinated against rabies for free.
The Middelburg State Veterinary Office is hosting a series of rabies vaccination drives across town and at nearby power stations, welcoming cats, dogs, and ferrets.

Even if your pet has been vaccinated before, veterinarians stress the importance of bringing the animals in for the shots to maintain a strong immune system.

In town:

20 October: Alzu Depot at the mall (only one from 10:00–16:00).
21 October: Kanonkop Tosca Centre and Kanonkop Superspar.

• James Erasmus, a veterinary technician at the Middelburg State Vet, said rabies is a state-controlled disease, meaning vaccines will not be handed to owners for self-injection. He also confirmed that house calls will not be offered during this campaign.
