With the recent sidewalk deaths of two addicts on the streets of Middelburg, the time has come to address the drug scourge gripping Middelburg.
Users are often locked up, while very few dealers have been brought to book.
We can no longer trust the police to keep our community safe from the local drug pandemic.
That is why every responsible parent should gain as much knowledge about drug abuse to keep their families unified.
To educate locals on the addiction deathtrap their children are exposed to daily, the ChainBreakers group at Corpus Christi invited former addict and anti-drug advocate Brescia Bianco-Badenhorst to share her story of addiction and recovery with Middelburg.
It is a conversation every parent and teenager needs to have.
@middelburgobserver Brescia Bianco-Badenhorst gives a glimpse into the hard topics on drug abuse that needs to be discussed around every family table in Middelburg, where a drug pandemic has destroyed many lives, and tore families apart for years. Brescia will be coming to Middelburg to tackle the things we avoid talking about. She knows what she is talking about, she’s been there, recovering from an addication that almost killed her. Do not miss this! Venue: Corpus Christi Church, Aerorand. Date: October 29. Time: 18:30. Entrance: Free. See you there. #Middelburg
It’s not a jolly subject.
It’s raw.
It’s unflinching.
It’s confrontational.
Prevention is better than cure in the case of drug abuse.
There is no safe illicit drug.
Not one.
And using any just once is a stairway to hell.
Not only for the user, but their families, with a great many Middelburg households already attesting to the destruction they still struggle to overcome.
Brescia knows what she is talking about.
She was there, in the deepest darkest crevices, during a point in her life where drugs took hold.
She escaped, and today she bears the torch as healer for so many of our local households that have been ripped apart by the drug monster.
Brescia will be in Middelburg on October 29.
The session will be held at Corpus Christi Church, Aerorand.
It will start at 19:00, and entrance is free.
Attendees can make any donations towards drug rehabilitation in Middelburg after the event.
Many of our local rehabilitation and trauma counsellors will also be introduced at the event, and encourage attendees facing a drug dilemma to ask for help.
The time is now!
