Blinkwater Mills celebrate top farmers for the 2025 white maize harvest
Amazing crops make for amazing maize meal.
Blinkwater Mills concluded their maize receipts season in style by celebrating the farmers for exceptional quality and commitment.
They received an impressive 330 000 tonnes of maize from 112 commercial farmers. Despite a difficult harvest with many grade quality challenges, exceptional farming practices delivered quality results. The average bushel mass (or hectolitre mass, measured in kilograms of maize per 100 litres volume) of 76.47 confirms the quality of this harvest season of maize delivered to the Blinkwater Mill facility in Stoffberg.

The overall winners for the highest average bushel mass were farmers Walter and Pieter Prinsloo from Planting with Purpose – PwP Farming (previously CMJ Farming). They achieved an average bushel mass of 79.49kg per hectolitre for their full harvest and delivered 100% grade 1 maize.
This achievement highlights PwP Farming’s reputation as one of the region’s most prominent producers. Walter’s answer to this was, “We believe in good maize seed genetics and use suppliers who are leaders in their respective fields.
To farm successfully, you need to follow a scientific approach, which includes studying weather patterns and being informed of the latest chemistry and agronomy research and practices.”
For this exceptional achievement, PwP Farming received a Vox Weather Station as a prize from Blinkwater Mills.

Other highlights
The highest bushel mass received on a single delivery was 83kg per hectolitre from Danie Oosthuysen Farming.
Why is bushel mass an essential indicator for millers?
Bushel mass indicates the mass density of the maize kernel. The higher the value, the better the maize meal yield and quality from the milling process. It is a key indicator of quality for Blinkwater Mills.
A big thank you to all our farmers
“The farmers are the cornerstone of our business, and we would like to thank them and every employee for their hard work and commitment during the harvest season. We would like to wish our farmers a very good planting season ahead,” said the Blinkwater Mills executive team.
