Two arrested after business robbery at liquor outlet in Middelburg
A tip-off led the police to the suspects, who were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition after the business robbery.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with a business robbery that occurred on Saturday at a liquor outlet here in Middelburg.
The SAPS Crime Intelligence unit working together with the Middelburg Highway Patrol received a tip-off and located the suspects, who were found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm firearm, and seven live rounds of ammunition.
According to a press release by Provincial Police Spokesperson for SAPS in Mpumalanga, the two suspects, aged 30 and 39 were charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
A silver grey Volkswagen Polo which was used by the suspects was seized by the police.

The suspects’ involvement in the business robbery is currently being investigated by the police. During the robbery, it was reported that cash, liquor, cellphones, and the 9mm firearm were stolen.
The value of the stolen good was estimated at R88 000.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi commended the informant for their valuable information and the operational team for their dedication to duty.
• The suspects are expected to appear at the Middelburg Magistrate’s court today.
