Friend identifies woman’s body found at Iraq taxi rank

A woman’s body was found at the Iraq Taxi Rank last week.

The body of a woman that was found at the Iraq Taxi Rank last Friday has been identified as 32-year-old Katlego Mampa, who was originally from Tafelkop, but had been living on the street for some time.

The Middelburg Observer spoke to a family friend (who wants to stay anonymous) who went to identify Katlego’s body. She described Katlego as ‘a good child whom she regarded as a younger sister,  who did not like getting into trouble, and was very helpful when we lived together’.

She said Katlego had suddenly become ill and must have passed away at the taxi rank, where she was later found.

The news of her sudden passing has left family members and friends distraught and shocked by the unexpected loss.

Katlego left behind her two brothers and a young son.

She will be laid to rest on Thursday at Ga-Mabintane.
