‘Paws for Help’ – Middelburg SPCA calls on ‘supawters’ to fill puppy bowls

Middelburg SPCA appeals for food donations as puppy pellets, dog treats and kitten food run out - locals urged to help feed the shelter’s animals.

At the Middelburg SPCA, mealtime has become a little quieter. The bowls that once overflowed with treats and pellets are starting to empty, and gentle eyes now look up, waiting.

The shelter’s youngest residents – wiggly puppies and curious kittens – are running low on food, and their caregivers are reaching out to the community for help. They’re asking for puppy pellets, dog treats (like hooves, Beenos, or anything special), and soft food for kittens – the simple things that bring comfort and health to little bodies learning to trust again. Each donation, no matter how small, stretches the SPCA’s limited budget a little further, helping them rescue more animals, pay for veterinary care, and keep tails wagging through the toughest days.

How you can help:

• Drop off puppy pellets, cat food, and dog treats at the Middelburg SPCA in Zuid Street.

• Call ahead if you’d like to arrange a larger donation: 013 246 1201 or 084 432 6278, or email manager@mspca.co.za.

• Share their plea on social media – the more people see it, the more bowls can be filled.

One small act of kindness, multiplied by a caring community, can turn empty bowls into full hearts again. Because at the end of the day, love doesn’t always look grand – sometimes, love is as simple as a bowl that’s never empty.
