#Voice For Change march against gender-based violence will also take place in Middelburg

15-minutes of silence for 15 women killed in SA daily.

The planned shutdown in protest against gender-based violence (GBV) at the G20 summit on Friday, has splintered to Middelburg, where local men and women will come together on Friday in solidarity with similar marches countrywide.

Peaceful protestors can join other participants at Van Blerk Square from 09:30 on Friday.

The march will proceed to the local magistrate’s court, where a number of speakers will address attendees.

Between 11:00 and 12:00, marchers will proceed to the Mhluzi Police Station, where 15 minutes of silence will be observed from 12:00 to 12:15 to honour the 15 South African women killed daily by their partners.

After the 15 minutes of silence, marchers will have an opportunity to light candles in remembrance of GBV victims.

For more information on how to join the peaceful protest, contact Lunga or Vuyo on 068 052 0834 or 065 876 1116.

The march will be protected.
