Submit your meter readings with ease

In case you missed it, here’s how the My Municipal Meters app works.

Earlier this year, the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality rolled out the My Municipal Meters app.

The app enables ratepayers to take control of their meter readings, and is meant to help residents manage their municipal services, particularly electricity and water.

Unlike in the past, where residents waited for municipal officials to collect their monthly reading, they can now directly submit water and electricity meter readings themselves.

Since its launch in May, the municipality said more residents are using the app monthly. It also encourages residents to submit their readings on the 15th and 20th of each month.

How to access the app:
It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Huawei App Gallery.

• First, visit your app store and download the My Municipal Meters app.

• Register your cellphone number or email address.

• Choose the service provider, which is the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.

• Enter your municipal account number.

• Select the meter number, take a photo of the meter, enter the reading, and submit it (do not enter decimal numbers).

• You are only allowed to enter a maximum of two readings per month, on the 15th and 20th each month.
